# What should a ticketing software service-level agreement cover?

> Uptime measurement, incident response, support, remedies and shared responsibilities in ticketing technology contracts.

**A ticketing service-level agreement (SLA) should define measurable commitments, the periods and systems covered, what happens when service degrades, and who owns incident response. An availability percentage alone says little about whether buyers can complete checkout or staff can scan tickets at an event.**

## Which service measures matter?

Define availability by named customer-facing functions, with a clear measurement interval and exclusions. Add monitoring for checkout success, payment handoff, critical APIs, order issuance, scanning dependencies and support. Establish what happens during a scheduled onsale or event day rather than relying only on monthly platform-wide uptime.

## How should severity and escalation work?

Specify severity thresholds linked to customer or operational impact. For example, admission validation failing across a venue merits an immediate escalation route, while a cosmetic settings issue does not. Document acknowledgement targets separately from restoration targets, incident updates, escalation contacts and support time zones.

## What responsibilities sit outside the supplier?

Distinguish platform components from organisers’ integrations, payment processors, network links, venue hardware and customer devices. A shared-responsibility table should describe monitoring ownership and handoffs; external dependencies cannot be treated as automatically covered by a software SLA.

## What SLA evidence and remedies should ticketing buyers agree?

Request historical incident summaries, availability definitions, maintenance notices, test outcomes and post-incident review commitments. Credits may be part of a contract but cannot replace continuity plans, data access rights or operational fallback procedures. Commercial terms need legal review.

## Which ticketing SLA commitments should buyers turn into acceptance criteria?

Translate availability, checkout, ticket delivery and admission needs into measurable service levels, severity rules and escalation paths. Compare the proposed commitments with incident evidence and walk through how the teams would respond during a major event.
